Industrial Culture, design creativity and production experience

The company was born back in 1980 in the Civita Castellana district, a ceramic production focused center renowned since the XIX century thanks to the Architect Giuseppe Valadier, where craftmanship, innovation, technology and sustainability blend together offering the best of Italian quality. 
To Galassia, the historical importance of the territory and its conservation is an identitary reference valor, witnessed by several concrete actions such as the sponsorship of the book “Doebbing Palace Museum”.
The publication documents the transformations of the Episcope in a Museum in the city of Sutri, one of the main borough of the Tuscian area: a small but fundamental contribute for the rising of a new cultural pole for the valorization of the artistic patrimony of the district of Viterbo. 

Production Experience

Distributing to over 77 coutries worldwide, Galassia employs 160 people along with 50 contractors, whose activity is inspired by the Company Vision, focused on quality and sustainability. Galassia's production capacity allows for over 240,000 items per year. The Ceramic material used to manufacture Galassia products has several commendable features, such as hardness, resistance to acids and alkaline solutions, scratchproof, easy cleanability, antibacterial, hygienic, hypoallergenic, fireproof, doesn’t release harmful substances, doesn’t fear extreme hot and cold temperatures nor light. Last but not least, material capable of respecting the environmental balance.

Two the types of ceramic produced: Vitreous China for sanitaryware and fine fireclay for shower trays, washbasins and console.

Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability

MISSION: Assessing environmental effects with any given production activity by LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) method. LCA methodology helps to quantify the environmental pressures related to goods and services, the environmental benefits, the trade-offs and areas for achieving improvements taking into account the full life-cycle of the product. In the case of a manufactured product, environmental impacts are assessed from raw materials and processing, through the product's manufacture, distribution and use, to the recycling or final disposal of the materials composing it.

Design Creativity: Antonio Pascale

Pascale obtained his diploma in Architecture at the Institute of Art of Florence and afterwards a degree at the University of Architecture of Florence.

Further studies at the School of Fine Arts, which influenced deeply the perspective of his work and creativity that was deeply rooted into reality.

In 2004 he became a charter member of the Industrial Design Studio "Archivio Design" and his areas of interest moved into many directions: Interior design, Industrial, Visual and Exhibition Design including Communication and Art Direction.

The expertise of the Studio is being certified in countless publications, from catalogues to international Design reviews; the works of the Studio are being appreciated for identity and uniqueness.
